Feast of Saint Michael

It is time for us to come together next weekend, Sept 27th /28th as a parish family to celebrate our patron saint. The Social Committee invites all families to the Feast of St. Michael, our first social event of the year. Please join us after all masses in the parish hall for good food, refreshments, cake and ice cream sundaes. Let's all gather together to enjoy the celebration, meet new people and renew friendships as we begin a new season.

All are welcome to meet in the parish hall after each weekend Mass  to enjoy a cup of coffee and browse through the displays representing the various ministries operative at St. Michael’s Parish.  We encourage all to prayerfully reflect upon the talents that God has given to you as a baptized Catholic and to take this opportunity to come forward to volunteer in parish ministry.  Representatives will be present to answer your questions and provide information to you.  As we launch into the Call to Evangelize within the third cycle of Pastoral Planning for the Diocese of London,  Bishop Fabbro’s Pastoral Letter “Go Forth and Make Disciples” ” encourages all of us to do our part to spread the Good News according to our time, talent and treasure.

In September 2014 our parish family will welcome Hospitality North. Over the past 12 years this ecumenical gesture of feeding the poor has taken place through a shared ministry with New St. James Presbyterian Church, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Colborne St. United Church and St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Each week volunteers prepare a meal for approximately 150 people. Over the past 12 years Holy Trinity Lutheran hosted the meal for 5 years and New St. James Presbyterian for the past 7 years. We have taken up the call and for the next number of years, each Monday a meal will be prepared.  The first Monday a meal will be prepared by St. Michael’s; the second Monday by Colborne Street; the third Monday by Trinity; the fourth Monday by New St. James.
If you would like to volunteer in this special ministry, we are always open to more volunteers.         519-433-6689

Messages from St. Michael's Pastoral Staff

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS
(RCIA)

There are many people who are waiting to be invited to take a closer look at our Catholic faith. They may be members of your family, your neighbours, friends or co-workers. Maybe they have never been baptized or are non-active members of other faith traditions. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), the process where adults and children of the age of reason (7 + years) listen, pray and reflect on the faith of the Catholic Church, are welcomed as new members into the Catholic Church. Meetings will begin on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. upstairs in meeting room E. If you know of anyone who might be interested in exploring the Catholic faith this year or if you yourself would like to do so, please call Helen Green at the parish office, 519-433-6689 X215 or email hgreen@dol.ca.
